Hello and Shalom!

I'm always glad to receive messages on any subject. To contact me, please use my talk page or send me email.

In the last few months i've been quite busy, so i rarely edit articles and i mostly do new user support ("adopting") and emergency admin tasks. Hope to get back to articles soon.

Amir Elisha Aharoni (Hebrew: אמיר אלישע אהרוני‎, Russian: Амир Элиша Аарони; born 1980-01-12 in Moscow) is a Wikipedian from Israel.

He has a pointless user page and instead of wasting time unproductively reading it you should be wasting time productively doing something about the Wikipedia backlog. You just won't believe how much fun it is until you try.

If you still want to waste time unproductively, you can read Amir E. Aharoni's blog: Aharoni in Unicode, ya mama, which should be slightly more interesting than this utterly pointless user page.

[edit] My Edits

For some reason i wrote here once that i am a Wikipedian since 2004-12-03, but i don't remember what was it that i edited then. The first anonymous edit that i remember doing was adding this silly sentence to Ariel Sharon, but it is still there, more or less :)

[edit] Created myself

It's hard to find a stub that hasn't been created in the English Wikipedia, so i didn't create many new articles here. My article-creation effort is mostly in the Hebrew Wikipedia.

[edit] Deletion

Sorry about that. I don't do it for fun. If you can convince me that i am wrong, please do.

I've been called both an inclusionist and a deletionist. That's probably a good thing.

See full list.

[edit] Undeletion

I salvaged Katamine after it was deleted.

[edit] Wow

Something that i wrote was translated to Malay language.

Do you get it? I, small and non-important Amir E. Aharoni from Israel, wrote something on an idle evening and someone invested a few minutes of his time to translate it into Malay. Wikipedia is just great.

[edit] Belarus

If you wonder why am i so obsessed about Belarus and its language, then you tell me: How is it possible to resist the charm of a language in which the month of April is called Красавік, which can be roughly literally translated as Bishōnen?

[edit] Constructed languages

Articles about constructed languages and alternative spelling systems shouldn't be included in Wikipedia just because they are fun or useful or beautiful or easy to learn.

They should be included if they are notable and the information about them is verifiable - just like any other subject. So i propose some articles about conlangs that seem non-notable to me for deletion. If you think that i am wrong - please correct me.

I am not an enemy of constructed languages - i learned Esperanto enough to read it and write simple texts. I also think that Interlingua and Novial are quite beautiful. Klingon and Quenya are notable because they were important parts of notable books and films and the cultures surrounding them.

But many other languages and scripts made up by people just don't make the cut of notability, so they shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.

I am also trying - very naïvely - to write a document about it that i may propose as a policy one day: User:Amire80/Notability (languages and writing systems).

Curiosity: Otto Jespersen, the guy who invented Novial, is my hero. His books on linguistics are my favorite; they are also great at helping me fall asleep.

Tatyana Vedeneeva interviewed me for the Soviet Television in 1989 and the interview was shown. But no, i am not asking for an article.
