[edit] Not Knitting?
OzzieB made the edit to say that knitting is not amigurumi, yet the crochet magazine article linked from the end of this entry says that amigurumi can be either knit or crochet. Amigurumi books I've seen in Japanese seem to include both knitting and crochet. What is the source for the crochet-only definition? Vowofsilence 20:32, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
After more than a week of no response from OzzieB about the changes I decided to return the information about knitting and flesh out this page further. This page needs better references but most of mine are Japanese books I can't even really read. Maybe on day someone who reads Japanese can add some sources and flesh this page out. In the meantime, it will have to be a half-baked worked in progress. Vowofsilence 01:35, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Amigurumi can be knitted or crocheted. The trend in recent years (the last decade or so) has been for crocheted toys, but ami means to knit OR crochet. Furthermore I have some older amigurumi books that show both techniques. The unfortunate element of this type of subject, combined with the Wikipedia requirement for citing English sources, is that most reliable sources of information for amigurumi online are not in English! epsilonpilot —Preceding comment was added at 02:12, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
