Coordinates: Amguri is a town and a town area committee in Sibsagar district in the state of Assam, India.

Amguri is located at .[1] It has an average elevation of 74 metres (242 feet).It is a beautiful town situated on the bank of river Jhanji.Amguri is famous for its surrounding tea gardens and oil field.

As of 2001 India census,[2] Amguri had a population of 6944. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Amguri has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
