[edit] Which flags

If we're going to have the Confederate flag, we need to have the US flag too. --JW1805 20:45, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

I don't see the need to show both flags except and unless we someday have enough stubs to merit a {CSA-stub}. It's not as if it's going to cause any confusion, and at the size at which icons are, the number of stars in a US flag won't be noticeable. Without the Confederacy, we couldn't have had a Civil War at all.

As a resident of South Carolina, I know my Confederate flags very well, as we had a big to do not so long ago about which flag would be used at the Confederate Memorial on out State House grounds. The square battle flag saw the longest period of usage and was incorporated as a design element in both the 2nd and 3rd national flags. making it the most represenative flag of the Confederacy in my opinion. If we must go to one of the Confederate national flags as opposed to the battle flag, The 1st national and not the 3rd national would be more appropriate as it was the national flag for a much longer period of time, and the design defect of the second national that the third national corrected also renders the second national unsuited for use as an icon.
