[edit] Merge?

Seems a lot of this page is redundant to lots of the content on American football strategy and American football defensive schemes. Might need to reorganize all of this content. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 08:06, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree that it should be merged. Yet, I think we could also split them up to, because after we do merge them they page will be huge. Perhaps a American football offensive strategy, American football defensive strategy, and perhaps American football special teams strategy? --Pinkkeith 11:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

I would agree (even though I created the article in question). I had been thinking that we should be tidying up the American Football articles quite a bit. I propose the following guidelines:

The following deserve individual pages:

  • notable players, coaches, league officials, etc.
  • NFL teams
  • NCAA teams (seperate articles from the schools in question)
  • notable games (esp. Super Bowls, major bowl games, etc.)
  • league highlights by season

The following should be grouped into a single page for each type:

  • Rules
  • Positions
  • Formations
  • Plays
  • Strategies/Philosophies/Schemes

Articles dealing with individual examples of the above should be collapsed and merged into the main article. Having even a single article named American football offensive strategy that contained ALL of the information in the plays, positions, formations, and philosophy articles would get unweildy. I will make this proposal on the main American football project talk page as well. --Jayron32 14:12, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
