[edit] Thirteen stars

Does anyone know why there are 13 stars?

I don't know this for a fact, but it's probably for the same reason as the thirteen stripes in the U.S. flag: The thirteen original States. - Alban 2005-04-08 17:21 UTC
It may also refer to the Thirteen Colonies, though the distinction between that and the thirteen original States is mostly pedantic. Markkawika 01:49, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
