[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Crit02.jpg

Image:Crit02.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] re: Fair Use Rationale

BetacommandBot: I'm going to do my best to respond here to your concern. If this is insufficient to keep the images on this page, please let me know. According to Wikipedia policy regarding non-free content (images), I understand that the images used on this page (all 4 of them) would qualify.

The policy states that 10 conditions must be met:

1. No free equivalent. These images are proprietary, but offered by the copyright holders for use here. They cannot be replaced by free content, and they add to their respective sections.

2. Respect for commercial opportunities. Neither the defunct logo, current logo, photo or magazine cover could be seen as compromising commercial opportunities in their use here. It is possible an argument could be made for the current logo, but then, why not take down all corporate logos? This is addressed in the logo section of the free content page.

3. Previous publication. All images here, including the photo, have been published, used in print or publication elsewhere by the AIAS.

4. Content. This would be nearly indisputable, with the exception of the photo, but that (for the moment at least) isn't the issue.

5. Media-specific policy. The material meets Wikipedia's media-specific policy.

6. One-article minimum. Ummm...I don't understand. If the images weren't being used here (once) they would be violating the rule? Intriguing...

7. Significance. Naturally, this is entirely subjective. However, I don't think much argument could be made with any of the images here, with the exception of the photo.

8. Restrictions on location. As specified in this clause, the images are not used in disambiguation pages.

9. Image description page. I have done my best to include this information. I'm almost certain I've done it incorrectly. Someone more experienced than I can update. In the meantime, I would argue that this should be fairly sufficient to not have the imaegs removed. But, then, that's really just my opinion.
