Talk:American Empire (Ghost in the Shell)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Here's my question: If the US had a split on the scale of GITS, which one is the actual AE. And wouldnt the former USA be embroiled in some sort of civil war. I mean, didnt this happen once before. I just don't see how a country [even as 'powerful' as the US] could have the economic clout to still be even a a semi-power after being sliced in half. But it still makes for a good story. - They don't have much economic clout. I suspect the AE is the southern one (the one made of the Red States). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.214.214.82 (talk) 18:57, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 2nd GiG
The nuclear missile launched by the American Empire submarine did not create a nuclear detonation when intercepted by the Tachikoma's AI Satellite. This is established in the last episode, when two officers onboard the submarine are discussing it. ("That didn't look like a nuclear detonation, should we launch another one?") Also, nuclear weapons are designed so that accidents, incidents, or damage to the weapon will not cause it to detonate. SilverHawk7 16:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- It is possible that it was a high altitude detonation, which may have created the illusion of a non-nuclear dotonation, but now that I think about you've got a better argument for a non detonation than I do for a detonation. TomStar81 (Talk) 19:27, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Nuclear warheads don't explode on impact. True an impact may cause some of the explosive (NOT the nuclear fuel) to detonate but it won't start a chain reaction.
[edit] "state" versus "State"
There should be a distinction between a "state" (a self-contained government) and a "State" (part of the United States, or the Aermican Empire, as in GITS2ndGig). This is similar to the distinction between the Internet and an internet. 68.1.123.175 10:54, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
