[edit] Financial performance
Light current removed this paragraph, which I now realize used weasel words and needed to be cited:
Some believe neither the location nor the subject matter was enough of a draw, and balked at the $20 adult ticket price; many Columbus residents did not attend. Some wondered what the quincentenary of Columbus' voyage had to do with a flower show. By opening day, the costs were so great that every adult and child in Columbus proper would have had to buy a ticket, and one-fourth of them would have had to attend twice.
I'm relying on several of the sources I listed in the references section, but I don't recall which statements came from which, so when I have time I'll look them up and properly attribute them. That is, instead of Some believe, I'll make it Margaret Newkirk of Columbus Monthly magazine claimed/alleged/asserted. While I'm at it, I suppose I should cite the other statements regarding the financial performance as well.
I like how you split things up into subheadings too -- I knew the page was a bit wordy, so this makes it flow much better. Thanks for the help! --Birdhombre 03:34, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
