[edit] Mike Sigel name should be under "S" and not M"

Resolved. Fixed.

Please fix Mike Sigel's name under the S section of this category instead of the "M." I do not know how to do it. Thanks in advance. RailbirdJAM 15:58, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I figured out how to do it. Please ignore problem of alphabetical listing. RailbirdJAM 21:29, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GERMAN Thorsten Hohmann in AMERICAN pool players category

Resolved. Hohmann doesn't self-ID as American in any way, ergo should not be in category.

Since Thorsten Hohmann is GERMAN by nationality, represents GERMANY when he competes in the World Pool Championship, I do not think his name should be in the AMERICAN Pool Players category. Please advise. Thanks in advance. RailbirdJAM 18:08, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

US permanent resident now. I'm not aware of any well-settled consensus on what is required for someone to be listed in a "COUNTRYNAME OCCUPATION" type of category. Emigration sounds good enough to me, though others might lean toward citizenship. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 20:18, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
He represents GERMANY at the World Pool Championship and would not be eligible to represent the United States, even with a U.S. permanent resident status. IMHO, I think Thorsten Hohmann is a German pool player and not an American pool player. He wears GERMAN logos and the GERMAN flag when he is competing at various pool tournaments. Please advise. Thank you, as always, for your helpful insights and suggestions. I appreciate it very much. RailbirdJAM 14:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
If he never self-identifies, professionally or otherwise, as American, I would say that is good enough evidence to remove him from the Am. category. I'd be very careful about making assumptions in this regard though. Alex Pagulayan is in a similar position, but with a different outcome: citizen of Canada, permanent resident, as of I think 2004, in the Philippines: He does play as a self-identified Philippines player now, but because he historically played as a Canadian player (and remains a Canadian citizen), he goes in both categories. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 00:40, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your comments and insights. Alex Pagulayan has double residency, Canada and Philippines. Thorsten Hohmann, however, plays for GERMANY at the WPC. He has NEVER played as an American pool player. I truly believe his name does not belong on this list. Jose Parica is another example. Though he has a resident status in the States, he is a FILIPINO pool player. Jose Parica has NEVER competed in pool as an American player, even though he has lived here much longer than Thorsten on a permanent basis, in California for the past 30 years and Nevada today. Jose Parica competes as a FILIPINO pool player. As such, Thorsten Hohmann should not be in this category. JMHO, FWIW! I respect your opinions and always read your comments, as they are always right on point. I can contact Thorsten Hohmann directly and clarify this, if that would help, and post his response in this message area. Let me know if this is something that would be helpful. As always, thanks in advance for your wise guidance.:>) RailbirdJAM 13:04, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Probably not necessary; I already removed that category from Hohmann, and would support it being removed from Parica if someone added it. Unless there is citable evidence of legal nationality (citizenship) and/or self-identification (e.g., Pagulayan playing for/as Philippines/Filipino), such a category should not be added. This sort of point should actually be covered by some kind of guideline at WP:BIO. I may go suggest that at that project's talk page. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 23:14, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ronnie Allen (Pool Player)

I would like to initiate an article about Ronnie Allen the pool player. There is an existing Ronnie Allen page of another "Ronnie Allen," and I don't know how do it. I know that somebody fixed the Allen Hopkins (pool player) page, since there was more than one Allen Hopkins on Wikipedia. {{helpme}} RailbirdJAM 16:53, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

You could create a page with a title along the lines of Ronnie Allen (pool player). See WP:DISAMBIG for more details. And by the way, the {{helpme}} template is only intended to be used on user talk pages. Thanks. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:57, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry. I'm a newbie Wikipedia contributor and still learning. Thanks for the help. I will read it again in an effort to understand how to create a Ronnie Allen (pool player) article. So far, I do not seem to understand how to do it, and I don't want to cause any errors with the other Ronnie Allen article in existence. Maybe I can get some help if I put the HELPME tag on My Talk page, as you so kindly suggested. :>) RailbirdJAM 20:00, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
