American University of London

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American University of London (AUOL) is a private, unaccredited educational institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business, Information Technology, Law, Education & Liberal Arts, Humanities and English, solely by distance learning.[1] It is a recently formed company and should not be confused with the older, but also unaccredited, American University in London.[2]

The institution has no campus and does not award British qualifications. According to its website, it is incorporated in St. Kitts and Nevis. The website lists mailing addresses in London and Houston, Texas.[1] The institution is associated with the Anacrusis Institute and Trinity College of London.[2]

The institution's website[1] states that it is accredited in the United States by unidentified "non-governmental agencies specializing primarily in distance learning" and by the World Association of Universities and Colleges, which is an unrecognized accreditation agency. The American University of London is named by the Pakistan Higher Education Commission as an institution operating illegally in Pakistan and appears on lists of unaccredited colleges and universities maintained by the U.S. states of Maine [3] and Oregon[4].

In January 2006, American University of London was labeled a "Bogus University" [5], and was fined by the government of London for misleading information, specifically for the use of the word "University" as a corporation. AUOL is officially labeled as a "Diploma Mill" and is a fraudulent corporation.
