Arab American University is a private institution founded in 1996 as the first private university in Palestine, and began teaching on September, 2000. The university is supervised by a selected Board of Trustees, who subscribe to the Ministry of Higher Education in Palestine, implementing an American education system, in affiliation with California State University and Utah State University. The town of Zababdeh is located nearby, within 2km.
