[edit] Record defeat
The ASFA suffered football's heaviest defeat in competitive international play, losing 0-31 to Australia, in April 11th, 2001, as part of their qualifying campaign for the 2002 World Cup. In this particular qualifying campaign American Samoa lost all four matches (Fiji 0-13, Samoa 0-8, Australia 0-31 and Tonga 0-5), scoring no goals, with 57 goals against.
In their 2006 qualifying campaign, they fared little better, with Natia Natia scoring the team's first and only official goal so far on FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns, during their 1-9 loss against Vanuatu. In its four matches, the team lost all four, scored a single goal, and had 34 scored against them.
