American Medical College Application Service
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The American Medical College Application Service, abbreviated AMCAS, is a service run by the Association of American Medical Colleges through which prospective medical students can apply to various medical schools in the United States and Canada. It thus acts as something of a Common Application among the schools.
Most US and Canadian medical schools require that students apply through AMCAS. Almost all of the rest are associated with one of three other application services:
- American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS) for osteopathic medical schools;
- The Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS) for the six Ontario medical schools; or
- Texas Medical & Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) for Texas medical, dental and veterinary schools.
