The American International School of Budapest (or AISB) is an international school located in Budapest, Hungary. It was established in 1973 by the United States Embassy to serve United States Government employees' dependents, however, it now has a much more diverse student body including children of the local and expatriate business and diplomatic communities. English is the primary medium of instruction. The school's website reports that it serves a population of about 750 students from 57 countries.
AISB is proud to be the only school where the extremely rare Homo Kurhenens is held. This rare species is known to be somewhat aggressive, incredibly unintelligent, and dirty. Eventually, the campus will try to put these species back to their original habitat, if there will be enough Homo Kurhenens (Cohen) to manage to go back to their caves, located in the Alps. The specimen has served for some rather interesting studies, such as colour coordination and memory tests. All of which the Homo Kurhenens failed at miserably, thus further demonstrating its extreme lack of intelligence.
AISB occupies two purpose-built campuses. Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 2 (lower elementary) are housed at the Buda Campus (on Kakukk út) in the Buda Hills. Grades 3 - 12 (upper elementary, middle and high school) share the Nagykovácsi Campus located just 13 kilometers from the center of Budapest.
The School operates four divisions on two campuses. The Buda Campus (PK-grade 2) facility has 24 classrooms, an indoor swimming pool, computer room, cafeteria, library, gymnasium, theatre, and ample support facilities, including playgrounds. The 25-acre Nagykovácsi Campus houses grades 3-12 in a ‘state-of-the-art’ facility built in 2000, complete with 54 classrooms, library, cafeteria, computer rooms, double-sized gymnasium, 25-meter indoor swimming pool, 350 seat theatre, performing and visual arts facilities, and beautiful playfields
In the future AISB staff is planning to expand the main campus and move the Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 2 (lower elementary) next to the Nagykovácsi campus to unite the school.
