The school has a diverse student body with students coming from a number of countries.

[edit] Campus
The school's primary campus is located at 121-129 Waterloo Road, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong, a 15 minute walk from the Kowloon Tong MTR and KCR stations and bus terminus.
Over the past few years, AIS has started to expand its campus by building up new campus buildings along Waterloo Road. AIS has built a new campus building in the high school area which also houses a new basketball court.
The school campus has limited sports facilities, and therefore most physical education activities are held in the nearby Kowloon Tsai Park. Ball games can be played in the public playground and tennis/squash can be played in booked courts. Annually, the Sports Day/Track and Field Day, an event ran by all school students in January, is also held in the sportsground in the park.
[edit] History
In 1986, the California International School (CIS) was established in the Kowloon Tong area. In 2000, the school was renamed American International School. Still, for many years, the school continues its policies in teaching in the Californian system despite calling themselves American International School.
[edit] Curricular
Due to the competition of new international schools being built around the area, AIS started to accept more students than before, expanding the school to a bigger community. Other than American teachers, there are also teachers from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, England, France, Tunisia, Hong Kong, United States, Singapore and Canada. In adapting to the American system, this school demonstrates a good opportunity for students to get into American colleges easier.
[edit] Students
80% of the student body are Asians.
