Hot 100: Of the 85 songs that have made the Billboard Hot 100, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and David Cook are tied with having the most charted hits, each with 11. Chris Daughtry has the next most with 6 charted hits, followed by; Fantasia, and Jordin Sparks with 5 hits; Josh Gracin has had 4 hits; Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Kellie Pickler, Katharine McPhee, and David Archuleta have all had 3 hits; while Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin, Bucky Covington, and Blake Lewis have each had two hits apiece. Kimberley Locke, Diana DeGarmo, Mario Vazquez, and Jennifer Hudson, have all had one hit single to date.
Carrie Underwood holds the record for the highest-selling single ("Before He Cheats"), which sold to more than 2 million copies. The song has also spent 64 weeks on the chart, longer than any other single by an Idol contestant, as well as the third longest running song on the chart of all time.[citation needed] The song is also the most-downloaded in country music history.[citation needed]
Contestants from season five have produced the most hits with 18, followed by season four and season seven both with 14 (excluding "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" from season 4 and "Shout To the Lord" from season 7). season one and season two have both produced 11 hits (excluding "God Bless the U.S.A." for season 2), while season three and season six have each produced 7 hits. Overall, 82 hits (excluding "God Bless the U.S.A.", "When You Tell Me That You Love Me", and "Shout To the Lord") have been produced by contestants from all seven seasons.
Top 40: Carrie Underwood have had the most top 40 hits, with 9. Kelly Clarkson follows with 8. Other contestants with multiple top 40 hits are Daughtry (5), David Cook (4), Clay Aiken (3), Fantasia (3), Jordin Sparks (3), Ruben Studdard (2), and Katharine McPhee (2).

He only had two Hot 100 Singles, but he had 5 singles on this chart. David Archuleta had three singles on this chart, and three singles on the Hot 100 Charts. Kelly Clarkson had two singles on this chart, but 11 singles on the Hot 100 Singles Chart. Everybody else has only had one single on this chart. Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks are the only winners not to have singles on this chart.
