[edit] Other “American Eagles”
The name American Eagle has been used in connection with various other motorcycles in the past.
- In the early 1970s, the Laverda 750 was marketed as the American Eagle in the U.S., and under that name was ridden by Evel Knievel in his later jumps.
- The English Sprite, a 405cc motocross bike, was sold in the U.S. as American Eagle.[1]
- American Eagle Harley-Davidson is a motorcycle dealership in Corinth, Texas, opened in 2002.[2]
- Because their old logos and many of their advertisements have featured an eagle together with the American flag's “stars and stripes”, some people refer to various Harley-Davidson models as "American Eagles", although Harley Davidson itself never marketed a model by that name.
- The American Eagle badge was placed on another Laverda and called the Renegade. It was a 150CC version built for the USA and sported fiberglass bodywork and had an additional 25CC over the European version.
