The Association of Canadian Underwater Councils was formed in 1969 by many small recreational scuba diving clubs. In 1986 the decision was made to turn ACUC into a private company, and it became American Canadian Underwater Certifications International, due to a lack in volunteer activity. ACUC has specialized in certifications for various levels of experience within the scope of scuba diving, from basic diving techniques to Scuba instructor. [1]
