The American-British Academy, established in September 1987, is in the city of Muscat, Oman and one of the premier international schools in the Persian Gulf region. It is a private-non-profit-co-educational-day school that offers a demanding K-12 English-language curriculum to expatriate students in Muscat. With more than 60 different countries represented in a school community of around 720 students, the ABA promotes academic excellence within a context of respect for and understanding of cultural diversity.

The ABA draws experienced teachers from 18 nations to teach challenging courses and provide a supportive international learning environment for students. Most teachers come from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand, but educators from countries in South America, the Middle East, Asia, and continental Europe form a sizeable contingent and all contribute to the international character of the school.

The ABA is fully accredited by both the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the European Council of International Schools. The ABA is also an "IB World School," authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (Grades 1-5), the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (Grades 6-10), and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (Grades 11-12).
