ALPIP (America Latina PIemonte Politecnico) is an ambitious co-operative project between Politecnico di Torino (Turin, Italy) and various universities in Latin America to encourage and reinforce strong academic exchanges for students. It grants scholarship bursaries to top Latin American students which fully pay for their studies and living costs during their time of study. The program is currently in its 5th year.

The ALPIP project is open to students who are citizens of Latin American countries and/or come from Latin American universities. Latin American countries are: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Jamaica, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Surinam, Uruguay, Venezuela and other countries of Caribbean Sea.

For its fifth edition, the ALPIP project awards Latin American students scholarships for higher education at the Politecnico di Torino at the following levels:

Laurea Specialistica (Master equivalent degree - UK): ALPIP offers students of Engineering and Architecture the possibility of attaining their degree (Laurea specialistica) in Engineering or in Architecture at the Politecnico di Torino.

Master di II livello: ALPIP offers the possibility of completing a one-year Master course in the ICT and E-Business sector

Dottorato di Ricerca / PhD: ALPIP offers the possibility to complete the entire doctorate course (three years) in various fields of Engineering and Architecture.

[edit] Laurea Specialistica

The ALPIP project offers Latin American students the possibility to hold a scholarship and other facilities to graduate at Politecnico di Torino attending, starting from the second semester of the first year, the Laurea Specialistica/Magistrale in Engineering or Architecture.

Academic offer

For the fifth edition of the ALPIP project, applications for the following Laurea Specialistica/Magistrale courses were admitted for:

  • Architettura
  • Architettura per il restauro
  • Ingegneria chimica
  • Ingegneria civile
  • Ingegneria dei materiali
  • Ingegneria dell'informazione
  • Ingegneria delle telecomunicazioni
  • Ingegneria elettrica
  • Ingegneria elettronica
  • Ingegneria energetica e nucleare
  • Ingegneria informatica
  • Ingegneria meccanica
  • Ingegneria meccatronica

The amount of the ALPIP scholarships for Laurea Specialistica/Magistrale is 10.000 euros gross (*) for the complete period. After subtracting the general tax charges as required by Italian legislation, the overall net amount remaining will range from 8,000 to 8,500 €. The exact sum will depend on the individual tax conditions of each student, which can be verified only when the candidate arrives, and also by any particular fiscal policies deriving from conventional treatment, that will take place after the scholarship has been assigned. The time required to graduate is about 3 semester, effective duration will however also depend upon each candidate capacity. The amount of the scholarship will not increase in case students need more time to conclude the course.

The ALPIP Project offers Latin-American students the possibility of profiting from a scholarship and additional benefits associated with enrolment in II level Master courses at the Politecnico di Torino.

Academic Offer

The Master courses of the sixth edition of the Alpip project (all of them in English) are:

  • Master in Wireless Systems and Related Technologies
  • Master in Optical communications and Photonic Technologies
  • Master in E-business and ICT for Management
  • Master in Navigation and Related Applications

The amount of the ALPIP scholarships assigned to students enrolled in a II level Master program is 10,000 euro gross (*) for the entire duration of the course. Then, after subtracting the tax charges as required by Italian legislation, the overall net amount remaining will range from 8.000 to 8.500 euros. The exact amount depends on the tax conditions of each individual awardees, which can only be ascertained on the candidate's arrival.

The time it takes to obtain the Master degree is about one year, but the actual time duration of the course of studies depends on each student's personal commitment and capabilities. The amount of the scholarship will not be increased if a student takes longer than a year to complete his/her program.
