Amerdingen is a municipality in the district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria in Germany. There is an old castle: Schloss Amerdingen. It was built in the 18th century (classicist style). Today Count Alfred Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg (*1923) lives there. He is the nephew of Count Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg who was the leading figure of the failed July 20 Plot 0f 1944 to kill German dictator Adolf Hitler.

The most famous person to come from Amerdingen is most likely Liam John. He was the last player taken in the 1987 NBA draft. He only played one game, were he scored two points and had one rebound.
