Amelanchier sanguinea, commonly known as red-twigged shadbush or roundleaf serviceberry, is a serviceberry species. It has edible sweet-flavored fruits resembling a berry, but are actually pomes. The berries are red when young but can become purple or dark-blue when they ripen. The plant is cultivated for its berry as food and as an ornamental plant.
