Coordinates: Amdanga is a community development block and an assembly constituency in Barasat subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

In 2001 census Amdanga had a total population of 165, 771, out of which 85, 826 were males and 79,943 were females.[1]

Bus route no. 28 (operated privately) links Amdanga with Khanna Cinema (near Shyambazar), via Jalsha, Sethpukur, Maligram, Bandaghat, Idga. [2]

Abdus Sattar of CPI (M) won the Amdanga seat in 2006, defeating Rafiquer Rahman of AITC. Hashim Abdul Halim of CPI (M) defeated Dr M.Nuruzzaman of AITC in 2001, Md. Rafiqul Islam of INC in 1996, Idris Ali of INC in 1991, Asoke Krishna Dutt of INC in 1987, C.F.Ali of MUL in 1982, and Mira Dutta of JNP in 1977.[3]
Amdanga is part of Barrackpore (Lok Sabha constituency).
