[edit] Punctuation
Standard English punctuation rules are that a long quotation has quotation marks at the beginning of each paragraph, but not at the end until the final paragraph. For example:
- "If the quotation extends to more than one paragraph, each subsequent paragraph must start with a a quote, but only the final paragraph will end with a quote." (Rees, Rules of Printed English, 160) --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:23, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
-
Ah, you're right, sorry — I'd misread it. Part of the reason for that, of course, is that the quotations marks within the double ones should be single. I'll go and correct that.--Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:00, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
No, sorry, you're not right in fact; the quotation is three paragraphs long, and you're trying to add closing quotation marks to the second paragraphy. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- "It is not one whole paragraph, it is three."
- Um, I think that's what I said... --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Please remember to use the edit summary
When you edited the Ge page to remove Phosphonofluoridic acid, I had to search to figure out why. (It turns out that you had done the exactly right thing, by the way, since the NATO code for that is GB and therefore a previous editor had added incorrect data, thank you.) But if you had noted in the edit summary why you were removing the entry, I would have saved time doing the research that you had obviously already done. Thank you! [edit] Use of the word vandalism
Using the word vandalism in any situation other than cases of obvious vandalism is generally frowned upon; so much so that many editors see it as a personal attack. The edit you reverted here is not a case of obvious vandalism, but rather a small content dispute. --Wildnox(talk) 21:41, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Alesana
Ok.I've learnt my lesson.I mustn't write my personal opinion. But I've found a reliable source - the music site allmusic.com.Visit the Alesana talkpage for more information =]. Xr 1 18:28, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
If you don't find sources that state only Post-Hardcore as Alesana's genre (see the talkpage) I'm going to add Emocore and Screamo.I said I wouldn't add them but now I think I should.Wikipedia works with sources and the sources - reliable or not, always include Emo/Screamo.I haven't found any source to include only Post Hardcore as their genre. If you find something I won't change the section.Xr 1 18:13, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your AIV report
Thank you for making a report about 194.236.41.31 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. Khukri 14:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!

[edit] Input request
Hi Ambrosia-, there is some discussion currently going on here, and I noticed you have {{User anime}} on your userpage. If you are not too busy, I would appreciate it if you could drop some of your ideas on how to reform the portal on the aforementioned talk page. Thanks! « ANIMUM » 23:11, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Acop.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Acop.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 05:06, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Acop.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Acop.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 01:08, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Arrivalsanddepartures.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Arrivalsanddepartures.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] January 2008
Please do not delete content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Talk:Saosin, without explaining the reason for the removal in the edit summary. Unexplained removal of content does not appear constructive, and your edit has been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox for test edits. Thank you. [edit] Image:GranadoEspada.png
I have tagged Image:GranadoEspada.png as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 09:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
