[edit] Chris Taylors

This has become a very longstanding issue. The Chris Taylor you are referring to already has an article at Chris Taylor (cricketer, born 1981). I will think up a sensible solution. Bobo. 19:27, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

We need to centralize these all into Chris Taylor (cricketer, born 1981). The Yorkshire cricketer and the Derbyshire cricketer are the same person, whereas the Gloucestershire cricketer is Chris Taylor (cricketer, born 1976). Bobo. 19:34, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

AMBerry said: The only thing original in the sub-stub I created quickly was the place of birth and the middle name, which I've now added. Really all that needs doing is disambiguation links put in place and a standard title thought of, I'd have thought?

See how you like the solution I have come up with. Please view Chris Taylor (cricketer), the page you created, Christopher Taylor (cricketer), which I created, and Chris Taylor (cricketer, born 1981), which I created. Bobo. 19:47, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

AMBerry said: That's fine. Clears things up, certainly. Cheers.

This way it's clear there are two Chris Taylors, but the year of disambiguation is the crucial factor. Thank you for hanging through this. Thankfully there are no other notable Chris Taylors at this point. Bobo. 19:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Slightly confused

This supersedes the previous message I had left here. Sorry. Your inclusion of Naqaash Tahir in your list of players has left me confused. I immediately thought you must have meant former Test cricketer Tahir Naqqash, but this player has never played County Cricket for Kent or anyone else. Could you please clarify as I found myself thinking I was fixing a link but ended up probably creating more problems than I was solving. Bobo. 03:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

AMBerry said: My apologies for any confusion caused. The player I was referring to was the Warwickshire cricketer Naqqash Tahir, which should have been under the "Other county players" section.

Bingo. I'll stick him on my list - Warwickshire, being late in the alphabet as far as County teams are concerned, are not on my list to stick on my sandbox until far far later. I'll get there, I'll redirect the link on my talk page and put him on my list. Thank you for the clarification. I'll get to it. Bobo. 12:47, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Infobox cricket umpire

Hey there, I spotted the above template whilst randomly browsing, having not realised it existed beforehand. Having recently done some mini-expansion of Nigel Llong how would you go about adding the infobox to that page, seeing as how he already has one for his playing days? Just put in below it, even though that would expand the page massively beyond how much text is there, or to put them in a table together and alongside one another? Or just omit one altogether? May seem a bit of a mini-issue but I'm a pedant, hehe. Thought asking you would be the best place to ask as I'd assume you have experience with implementing it, having created it. Thanks. AllynJ 17:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, okay, thank you. I messed around a bit and the best I could come up with was this by nesting them in a table together but it still has issues (mainly where it places the edit button for the references section, but also because there's some odd line now sticking in to the cricket infobox at the top and I have no idea where it's come from). Gonna take a bit more work, but thanks. :) AllynJ 22:38, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
! Goddit! [1], excellent. Despite stretching the page a bit it does actually look okay. :) AllynJ 22:47, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi. As you've probably seen, (having corrected my mistake - thank you), I have now implemented all of the functionality of the cricket umpire infobox to the full cricketer biography, making a lot easier to work umpires with playing careers as well. With the added fields
| umpire = true
| columns = 0 (to remove the playing stats columns if necessary)
and correcting the spelling of 'umptestdebutdate', it should all work as normal. Do you have any objections/comments re: converting the few you have implemented to {{Infobox cricketer biography}}, thus deprecating your template (the umpire bit, I believe was copy-and-pasted into the biography infobox anyway)?

[edit] Khan

Ok, no problem. He had an article on the Yorkshire website earlier in the season on how his name was Younus and not Younis. Why it has taken him 10 years to come out with it, I don't know! Joe p15 08:59, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Ant Botha as a Derbyshire player

You reverted the change removing Ant Botha from the Derbyshire squad, saying that he doesn't move until 2008, but Ant has already played for Warwickshire this season, so doesn't that mean he has already moved? Cricinfo also says "He was released by Derbyshire in 2007, joining Warwickshire on a two-year contract." Regards, Schumi555 17:25, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] E. W. Swanton

Swanny?! Are you sure? I hadn't heard that nickname for him before. I would think one would have needed to be either very brave or a very close friend to have used it. I had always thought that "Jim" was pretty much universal. JH (talk page) 19:00, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. My guess is that perhaps he was called that long ago, in his days of playing for Middlesex. JH (talk page) 19:10, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Alfred Mynn

Thanks for the infobox. It's a big improvement to the article. I see that you have used the Cricinfo figures, whereas the body of the article uses CricketArchive's figures. They agree on his batting figures, but CricketArchive credits him with 2 extra wickets, one more 5WI and one more 10WM. It doesn't affect his bowling average. We ought to use the same site's figures throughout, perhaps with a note about the discrepancy. Personally, I tend to have greater faith in CricketArchive, but if you would prefer Cricinfo then I won't object. JH (talk page) 17:43, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Daan van Bunge

Hey there, nice work with the infobox for Daan van Bunge's page. I tried to change it earlier the same day but couldn't make it work. Cheers Chodaboy57 (talk) 21:22, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
