[edit] History

Ambleside was opened in November 1883[citation needed], and was located just north of Ambleside Road, which may explain how the station was named. The station consisted of a ticket office, and a large shelter, similar to the one at Balhannah.[citation needed] The station was probably redeveloped sometime between the 1930's-1950's, which included the removal of the original platform.

[edit] Closure

The location of the station was a bad one[citation needed], which led to its closure in the 1960's when country passenger services ceased.[citation needed] There is no evidence of the station left, as a project to raise the railway track to nearly completely hide the station platform was started in the late 1960's-70's[citation needed], and the shelter and station signs were removed in the 1980's-early 90's.[citation needed]
