Amara Sy (born August 28, 1981) is a Malian-French basketball player currently playing for AEK Athens BC. He is a member of the Mali national basketball team. In 2002 Amara Sy became French national basketball champion with his team Adecco ASVEL. Amara Sy also participated in the French All-Star-Games 2004, 2005 and 2006 playing for the French team. At the All-Star-Game 2004 he was honoured to be the Most Valuable Player of that All-Star-Game. During his pro-career Sy won the French National Cup (Coupe de France) in 2001 and 2004.

Despite Sy being a pro-player at the highest French league, Sy is also a great streetball player. He proved this in 2003 winning the 1-on-1 King of Court competition(Nike Battlegrounds) against several opponents from around the world. In the Quarter Final Sy beat the defending champion the Californian streetball-star Erron Maxey, later on he defeated Howard in the semi-finals and Junie Sanders in the finals. In addition, Amara Sy has played several times in the Le Quai 54, the best streetball competition in all of Europe. In 2005 Amara Sy became the Most Valuable Player of that Tournament while winning it with his team Pro Leps. That year the defending Rucker Champions Terror Squad participated in the tournament, too. Amara Sy's nickname at the Playground Basketball scene is Admiral.
