Alyque Padamsee is an Indian theater personality, both as producer and actor. He also played Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the film Gandhi and was in A Force More Powerful.
He is well-known as an advertising professional. His career in advertising spans several decades; he was Managing Director of Lintas, one of India's best-known agencies.
Padamsee is a Muslim by birth, but professes to be an agnostic. He was married to Pearl Padamsee by whom he has a daughter, Raell Padamsee; then to Dolly Thakore, mother of his son Quasar Padamsee, and later to Sharon Prabhakar. All three women were connected with the performing arts. Padamsee also has a daughter, Shazahn. His autobiography A double life recounts his story. Padamsee is based in Mumbai, India.
Padamsee recently participated as a panel speaker at the launch of a new book "Ayn Rand at 100" in Mumbai, India, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Ayn Rand's birth. Padamsee revealed that Ayn Rand has had an influential role in his life, and that after Shakespeare, he considers Rand's works to be his favorite. He particularly enjoyed the romanticism of The Fountainhead; at the event, he orally interpreted one of the dramatic scenes from the novel.
