Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned is a 1997 novel by acclaimed mystery novelist Walter Mosley. The book follows the trials and travails of an ex-convict named Socrates Fortlow who lives in a tough Los Angeles neighborhood and struggles to stay on the path of righteousness.

The novel was adapted into a television movie in 1998. It was directed by Michael Apted and starred Laurence Fishburne as Socrates.
