[edit] Eagle pedigree

I was an active Boy Scout. I had been a 2nd class scout in Loup City. In Kearney I had to start over as a tenderfoot. In about two years I had worked myself up through first class, Star Scout, Life Scout and Eagle Scout. I was the first Eagle Scout in Nebraska along with my buddy Byrus Troxell whom I really carried with me through the required merit badges. Kearney had a professional scout master up until 1923 when the money to pay him ran out. At that time I took over and held the troop together.
