Alvin Independent School District

Alvin Independent School District is a school district based in Alvin, Texas (USA).

Alvin ISD serves the cities of Alvin, Liverpool, and Manvel, the village of Iowa Colony, and the community of Amsterdam. Alvin ISD also serves a portion of the city Pearland (including master-planned communities such as Southern Trails and most of Shadow Creek Ranch) and the town of Rosharon. Unincorporated communities including Savannah Cove: Lakes of Savannah and Southfork are within AISD. Areas associated with the city of Arcola that are not a part of the actual city of Arcola are also in AISD. Alvin ISD covers 250 square miles (650 km²) of land.

The Superintendent appointed by the Alvin ISD school district is Dr. Robby McGowen due to the resignation of Dr. Greg Smith on December 21, 2007 to become Superintendent of Clear Creek ISD, and the district is operated by an elected Board of Trustees.

Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, Alvin Independent School District will be realigned the following way: Sister schools (Alvin Primary School/Alvin Elementary School; Stevenson Primary School/Disney Elementary School; and Mark Twain Primary School/Longfellow Elementary School) will be grades PK-2 and 3-5. All other elementary schools will be grades PK-5. Junior high schools will be grades 6-8 and high schools will be grades 9-12. The two alternative schools will not be effected by this realignment.
