[edit] History
Alveston F.C. was formed in 1927 after an earlier club of the same name folded. The new team immediately joined the Stratford Alliance, where they were to play for nearly 70 years.[4]
In 1993 Alveston applied to join the Midland Football Combination and were accepted into Division Three, where, despite only finishing in sixth position, they were promoted at the first attempt. They followed this up by gaining a second successive promotion in 1995, and in 1998 claimed the Division One title to gain promotion to the Premier Division. In 1998–99, their first season in the Premier Division, they were crowned champions.[3]
After their dramatic title win Alveston's fortunes tailed off dramatically. They finished in 17th position in 1999–2000 and between 2001 and 2005 finished in the bottom three on four successive occasions. Although they managed a mid-table finish in 2005–06, they were relegated the following season after finishing bottom of the table.[3]
