[edit] Biography
Aluna formed in 2006, the lineup consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Sophie Willett, lead guitarist Dave Day (Sonic Lord [1] & Godsize [2]) bassist Andy Barnett and drummer Jake Mason. The band members come from various areas of The West Midland region in England (Stourbridge, Birmingham and Brownhills respectively). Playing their own form of psych-blues-doom, their first gig was playing to 5 people in a back-street Coventry pub, by the time their third gig came along they were supporting Trouble (doom band) at The Wolverhampton Civic Bar Venue.
They released various demos throughout 2006 and in 2007 signed to stoner / doom record label Catacomb Records [3]. In 2008 they appeared on the label’s first release “The Sound of The Catacombs” alongside the likes of Abdullah and DirtyRed (ex. St. Vitus), they release their “Fall To Earth” E.P and also a limited edition split 7” vinyl with Hong Kong / USA based band Queen Elephantine.
As well as Trouble, Aluna have also supported Paradise Lost, Taint, Winnebago Deal, Blaze Bayley (Ex. Iron Maiden) and Winters.
