[edit] IP Address to User Account

How do I merge the two IP addresses I have used under my new username, Altonbr?

My past IP's were: 24.235.136.112, 24.235.137.120, 24.235.140.184, 24.235.136.143 & 72.38.56.31

Hi. Unfortunately you cannot. You can only link them from your userpage. -- zzuuzz(talk) 23:03, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Important employees of google

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia by creating the page Important employees of google. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. See WP:NPOV. The problem with an article like this is, essentially, who decides who is "important"? That requires considering the author's personal point of view, in violation of WP:NPOV and WP:NOR. Thanks, NawlinWiki 19:04, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Scribes-replace.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Scribes-replace.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] NISPOM advertisement

Hi there! I noticed that you added the {{advertisement}} tag to the NISPOM section of the NISP article (diff). Can I ask you to please comment at the talk page for the article as to why you added that tag? I'm unclear as to what makes it like an advertisement, and someone else has raised the same concern. Thanks! —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 02:12, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ubuntu-5.04-login-20071001.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ubuntu-5.04-login-20071001.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Ubuntu-5.04-desktop-20071001.png

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Ubuntu-5.04-desktop-20071001.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 23:20, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Minor edits

Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. [edit] expert template

Nice template for GIMP -- I had a difficult time (as you can see I failed) getting that whore Photoshop off from that article. I am in the middle of an article about how a consensus of bacteriologists failed in the 1800s and cannot help but think of what an abused word this one particular word is in some places. If 50 or 500 or 5000 people say that the earth is not round, does it make it not round? -- carol (talk) 12:02, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Westinghouse Time Capsules

On February 20 you put a "rewrite" tag in the section 1939 Time Capsule I. The article was featured as a Did You Know article on 8 January 2008. Looking at the section and the article I don't see what parts need to be rewritten (of course I am biased). There has not been any other editors that have made any edits since the DYK except for minor edits. I did make the one image smaller and moved to the right. Perhaps you can make the edits you feel are necessary and remove the tag. Could you be specific, make the appropriate changes, or remove the tag if otherwise you think it is alright? Thanks.--Doug talk 23:52, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Kohanaphp-homepage-20071117-01-cropped.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kohanaphp-homepage-20071117-01-cropped.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 13:14, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Rafal Rzeczkowski

I have nominated Rafal Rzeczkowski, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rafal Rzeczkowski. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:KubuntuLogo.svg}

Thank you for uploading Image:KubuntuLogo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Is Image:Launchpad-homepage-20080425-ver_1.2.3-build_5983.png free?

I'm pretty sure that launchpad is not GPL or any other OSI licence, but even if it is, I'm pretty sure all the artwork is owned by someone. ffm 14:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I removed the links in the Ubuntu article again. The GA reviewer has requested it. However, you should feel free to add them back in as citations with Template:Cite Web. --Falcorian (talk) 22:56, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
