Talk:Altiplano
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Altiplano potosino.
The name altiplano is used to talk about a big region of the state of San Luis Potosi in mexico. I don't know if other places are called like that, but that shows that the andes altiplano is one of them but not the only one. It is like sayng that rainforest is a place in Brazil called the amazonas. There are other rain forests in the world! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.152.178.132 (talk) 07:04, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Article Innaccuracies
This artícle seems rather a description of the Central Andes than the Altiplano itself. Altiplano is an expression used in Spanish to refer to high and flat (like a table)lands. Having said this, the Bolivian Altiplano is an area within the Central Andes and not the central andes themselves as it is sugested by this article.
Another mistake, the word páramo is not a synonymous with altiplano, but a word used to refered to a type of cold mountain climate where the only type of vegetation is "frailejón".
The word altiplano is also used to refer to the highlands of central Colombia where several important Colombian cities stand including the capital Bogotá.--tequendamia 07:02, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Article Needs a Map
This article would benefit greatly from a map with the Bolivian Altiplano well marked.
