[edit] Dice

I always thought there was no d10 in the Alternity dice system because it is not a platonic solid in the form usually used for dice.

You know, Alternity was my very first RPG... i cant recall if it came with a d10... I'm pretty sure it did. But it might not have. Man i'm useless. Soylent.Hero 08:40, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Probabilities

When rolling two dice there is no flat area, the curve schould look this "/\" or am I wrong? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.181.242.68 (talk) 19:19, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

It depends on how many dice you're rolling, and of what sorts. If you roll 2d20, it will look like /\, but if you roll a twenty-sided die and a six-sided die, and add the results together, it will look like this /`````````\. The reason is this: how do you get the result 2? You have to roll 1s on both dice. How about 3? 1+2 or 2+1. 4? 1+3, 3+1, or 2+2. Ect. Once you hit seven, though, you have 1+6, 6+1, 2+5, 5+2, 3+4, 4+3. But 8 has exactly the same chance of coming up: 7+1, 2+6, 6+2, 3+5, 5+3, 4+4. Because the limit is on the maximum value of the 6 sided die, but the 20-sided die has a much larger limit, you end up with the same probability of rolling any number between 1+1+(smaller die's maximum value) and 21 (at which you get everything from 20+1 to 15+6). [edit] Former Playtester

I was one of the playtesters for Alternity back before it was released. My name is in the back of the book (GM). Although it's a dead topic now, if there's any need for information, I'll try to help. MikeSims (talk) 04:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
