[edit] Alternative lyrics to consider

Hey, I'm new to editing wikipedias but I learned new alt. lyric today during AP History. Its the "Chinese Dynasty Song" and it helps you learn the dynasties in order. :] Shang Zhou, Qin, Han 2x Sui, Tang, Song 2x Yuan, Ming, Qing, Republic 2x Mao Zedong 2x

The last time I edited wiki, the information I added was deleted for some reason or another which is why I'm posting here. [[[User:76.116.186.46|76.116.186.46]] 19:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)]

If our Chinese editors here agree that this is notable, maybe it can be included. The problem is, if we include ALL alternative lyrics, these pages would be extremely long and unmanageable. There are literally thousands or maybe 10s of thousands of alternative lyrics in English, for example.--Filll 19:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Split

I think it is a good idea to split the article up. When it gets too long it is tedious and confusing.--Filll 16:12, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Latin

I started to put in a Latin version, but then realized that it was not only other languages but other lyrics that are wanted. In the process I discovered that I had let decades obscure my memory of high school Latin. I found a Latin version:

Nonne dormis, nonne dormis?

Frater mi, frater mi.

Sona matutinas, sona matutinas

Ding dong ding

Ding dong ding

But I remember the first phrase being something like, "Esne somnians." The "somnians" part is probably close. Does anyone know what it really should be? P0M 20:33, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Requested move

Alternative lyrics to Frère JacquesFrère Jacques — Much of the text on the alternative page is the same as in the "Alternative Lyrics" section of the main page. It might be controversial because somebody obviously made the change to separate them, but people wil keep on putting alternatives on the main page. Origamikaren 22:52, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

This seems to be a merge request, not a move request. As such, I have removed it from WP:RM. Please see WP:MERGE#Proposing_a_merger to find out how to proceed. --Stemonitis 08:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
