[edit] Notability

alt.horology is notable to horologists (at least according to a horologist friend of mine). I don't know enough about the subject to expand on this article, but the fact remains that it's the only discussion forum on usenet where horology can be discussed. Perhaps this article should be shortened and merged into horology, but I can't see how it would fit well there. It does deserve mention however, either in its own article or merged with another. =Axlq 18:08, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

It is not the only page on the web. It is just that it has become the only "active" page thanks to the quality of the lurkers as well as the steady participants.
Looking at the long list of alt. NGs,underneath, either in red or already in blue, most of them not being as serious and well founded as alt.horology, I really question Wikipedia's wisdom. Either you delete everything, or at least you let one of the very few outstanding, i.e. alt.horology stand by itself.
It is not a commercial matter, but a fact that there are very few neutral places on the web where anyone can come and ask serious questions about horology and obtain answers on part of various people, matching wikipedia's working system.
Best regards

I didn't say it was the only one on the web, I said it was the only one on usenet. In any case I agree that this article shouldn't be deleted. I'm removing the speedy deletion tag. =Axlq 04:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

How did the others in blue got accepted? The others in red left for completion? Why should alt.horology not be accepted?

This is the most extensive newsgroup hierarchy outside of the Big 8.

(sic) :-)

I mean it well and would not want to make any mistake, and being treated likewise. Appreciating.
