[edit] History

In May of 2005, Altru Health System announced a $100 million dollar expansion and renovation of its Grand Forks campus. The project will take place over a five year period. Virtually every facility on the campus will be completely renovated and expanded. Altru has also announced the hiring of 38 new physicians and 400 other medical personnel as part of the overall plan.

For quite some time, Altru has been the only major healthcare provider in the city of Grand Forks. In April of 2007, it was announced that a new for-profit hospital called Aurora Hospital would open in Grand Forks in 2009.
