Alton is a small, rural community in south Taranaki, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located between the towns of Hawera and Patea.

- Plans for extensions to both the Alton Dairy Factory and the Alton Cheese Factory (dated 1918) are housed at Puke Ariki. in New Plymouth. See Alton Dairy Company (ARC2003-1092). Retrieved on 2008-01-29. This dairy company began production in 1909, and closed upon merging with Kiwi Co-operative Dairies (in Hawera) in 1984.
