Alto Marañón

Alto Marañón is the denominated zone in Peru that includes an area of more than 30,000 Kilometers square, with five great rivers and more than 40,000 people.
In this area the population distributes itself in 240 communities of mainly indigenous population. It is located within the northeastern region of the Marañón.
The settlers of the zone characterize themselves by a strong indigenous feeling, pride and participation at level of organization and political activity.
