Altibox

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Altibox is a unified brand for internet, IPTV and IP-phone service distributed over 33 local Norwegian FTTH networks. Altibox was set up by Southern Norwegian multi-utility firm Lyse Tele in 2002. Since then, the company has steadily been adding customers and distribution partners, now passing over 110,000 homes. The vast majority of Altibox customers are self-install (over 90 per cent), with many even laying the fibre-optic cables to their homes. Altibox’s strategy has been to agree with local communities a confirmed take-up rate of the service, at which point the local telco lays the backbone cabling.
