Alternate reality

Alternate reality is usually a synonym for a Parallel universe. It may also refer to:
- Alternative universe (fan fiction), fiction by fan authors that deliberately alters facts of the canonical universe they're writing about.
- Alternate Realities (Cherryh), an anthology of science fiction by C. J. Cherryh.
- Alternate Reality (video game)
- Alternate reality game, a type of cross-media game.
- Virtual Reality, simulated reality.
- A euphemism for Altered reality, the use of chemical substances (drugs) for recreational purposes.
- A neologistic term for Parallel universe, in particular to certain genre films such as the three The Matrix films, Fight Club, and such speculative fiction films where a recognizable world is the background environment, but has some major twist to it.
