The city Altai (Mongolian: Алтай) is the capital of Govi-Altai Province in western Mongolia. The capital is geographically located in the Yesönbulag sum (district). It is not to be confused with the separate sum also named Altai in the south of the aimag. City population is 19,300 (2006 est.[1])

The Airport of Altai (LTI/ZMAT) has one unpaved runway and is served by regular flights to Arvaikheer and Ulan Bator.
