Alstermo is a small locality in Uppvidinge Municipality, Kronoberg County, Småland, Sweden. It has a population of 859 (2005).

Alstermo is situated along the Alster River in the deep forests of Uppvidinge. Local government in the province Småland, belonging to Kronoberg County, with Växjö as capital city.

You will find Alstermo about 40 km from Nybro, 65 km from Växjö, Kalmar and Oskarshamn.

In the river you can bathe, go fishing or go by canadians. Other activities are walking, riding, go by bicycle, picking blueberries, mushrooms etc.

You can also find tennis courts, a football stadium, a sports hall and a shooting-range. In the winter you can go skiing and skating. In the woods surrounding Alstermo you can find elk, deer, fox, badger, marten, mink etc. The birds you will find are crane, heron, different hawks, buzzard, etc. Within the Alsterriver you can find fish like pike, perch, roach, burbot etc.

In Alstermo you can find doctor, dentist, post office, banks, different stores, hotel, youth-hostel, restaurants, library, cinema, ATG-service, a park of recreation. You can always come and leave with our good bus connections.

Today Alstermo is most famous for their handball team Alstermo IF. Alstermo IF have been playing in one of the top leagues in the Swedish league pyramid in handball for almost a decade.
