[edit] Welcome
Welcome to Wikipedia. To find out how to make useful contributions, take a look at the welcome page. To stay in Wikipedia, an article has to be about something notable, that is, of general interest. Click on Notability for an explanation of what that means. Also, it must give independently verifiable sources. Articles that don't meet these requirements are likely to be deleted. Follow the links below to learn more:
- To find out more about creating articles, read the Introduction and the Guide to creating your first article.
- You should not write articles about yourself, your band, or your best friend - that's a conflict of interest.
- Wikipedia is not an advertising service. Before writing about your own business, read Business' FAQ.
- For experiments, please use the sandbox.

[edit] Alpha Sleuth
A tag has been placed on Alpha Sleuth, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of Alpha Sleuth and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 18:48, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Blocked
Your username has been blocked indefinitely because it contains the name of a group, company, organization or website (see our username policy for more information).
If you would like to discuss the block, you may appeal on your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you. Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address might be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible.
If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new username, please follow these directions: (1) Add {{unblock-un|new username}} to your user talk page. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page. (2) Soon, an admin might come to unblock you. (3) You will have 24 hours after the unblock to file a request on Wikipedia:Changing username before you might be re-blocked. Note that this can only be done before you create the new one. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is a lot easier to create a new account.
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:AlphaSleuthExample2.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:AlphaSleuthExample2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. BlueAzure (talk) 20:54, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Username blocked
Why is my username blocked? Alpha Sleuth is a perfectly good name. Yes, it's the name of a website -- MY website. So what's the problem?
- See the username policy. Wikipedia does not like usernames which are the name of a company, organisation or website because they may indicate a conflict of interest or an intention to use Wikipedia for promotional purposes rather than editing from a neutral point of view. You may think it is more open to do promotional editing from an explicit rather than an anonymous user-name; but either way, promotional edits - which need not be overt advertising, but could just amount to listing products or businesses which do not meet the notability criteria - are not wanted and are usually swiftly detected and removed. The Business' FAQ gives advice to people who want their business or product mentioned.
- That said, the paragraph above tells you how to change your username if you want to. The administrator who blocked your account is Pegasus (talk); you can email him by clicking on his username and then on "Email this user" at the lower left on his user page. As you have made few edits on this account it would probably be simpler to abandon it and set up a new one. But if you are here to promote something in which you have an interest, you're in the wrong place: that's not what Wikipedia is for. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:49, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Alpha Sleuth
I have nominated Alpha Sleuth, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alpha Sleuth. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --Snigbrook (talk) 19:40, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
