Alpha Secondary is a public high school in Burnaby, British Columbia part of School District 41 Burnaby.

Alpha Secondary offers academic courses as part of the Advanced Placement (AP) program. It was ranked 178th in the Fraser Institute annual ranking of schools in 2005/06.[2] Alpha students often earn the highest number of scholarships per capita.

The mission of Alpha Secondary School staff, together with our parents and our community is to provide a supportive climate in a multi-cultural environment where all individuals have the opportunity to maximize their talents for the benefit of society. Through academic, creative and extracurricular pursuits, students and staff are encouraged to develop their potential with a desire to engage in lifelong learning.

Alpha is best known for its well - rounded students and numerous successful extra curricular activities. To date, there are approximately 35 clubs and councils at the school. The four main councils include: Sports Council, Fine and Performing Arts Council, Grad Council and Students' Council.

  • 2004 Provincial AAA Boys Soccer Champions
  • 2006 Provincial AAA Volleyball Champions
  • 2007 Provincial AAA Volleyball - placed 3rd

  • Ashley Leitao, a former top ten contestant on Canadian Idol, attended Alpha and graduated in 2004.
  • Mike James (rugby), retired professional rugby player, former Team Canada captain
  • Devon Sawa, Actor (Final Destination, Casper) (Class of 1998).
  • Don Taylor, grad of 1983 currently working for Sportsnet
  • Alfredo Valente, an Olympic Soccer player and Soccer player for the Vancouver Whitecaps, graduated from *Alpha in 1998.

The school rarely refers itself as Alpha Secondary School. Only Alpha Secondary, presumably of the acronym. The school is named for the street on which it sits - Alpha Avenue.
