Alpha Fornacis (α For / α Fornacis) is the brightest star in the constellation Fornax and only brighter than 4.0 magunitude there. Also it has the proper names Dalim (in Piazzi's Palermo Catalogue of 1814) and Fornacis (in Burritt's Atlas of the Geography of the Heavens of 1835). This star was formaly identical with 12 Eridani.

Alpha Fornacis is a binary star and has high proper motion.
