Alpha Beta Alpha

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alpha Beta Alpha is the professional college undergraduate library fraternity. It was established by librarian Eugene P. Watson at Northwestern State University (then College) in Natchitoches, Louisiana, on May 3, 1950. The idea for the fraternity originated at a banquet on the Northwestern campus in 1945[citation needed]. The first biennial convention was held in Natchitoches during March 1952.

The fraternity seeks to promote a spirit of professionalism among future librarians[citation needed]. Undergraudate library science majors may join. Dues are $15 annually[citation needed]. The group hosts book fairs, field trips, and community outreach[citation needed].
